Steam store asset sizes

Every image size Steam's store page and library ask for, in one place — pick any of these from the Steam Store category above and the crop locks to the right aspect ratio automatically. The 600×900 Library Capsule is the vertical one, also called the cover art, poster or grid art. For a profile picture instead, use the Steam Profile category.

Frequently asked questions

What image sizes can I create with this tool?

Steam store assets, a Steam profile picture, Roblox thumbnails and icons, Google Play Store assets, an Open Graph link-preview image, YouTube thumbnail and Shorts sizes, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok — each one has its own question below with the exact pixel dimensions, since that's the detail most generic resizing tools skip.

What are the exact Steam store image sizes?

Header Capsule 920×430, Small Capsule 462×174, Main Capsule 1232×706, Vertical Capsule 748×896, Page Background 1438×810, Library Capsule 600×900, Library Header 920×430, and Library Hero 3840×1240 — all 8 slots Steam's store page and library ask for. Pick any of them from the Steam Store category and the crop is already locked to the right aspect ratio, so there's no guessing which part of your art gets cut off.

What is the exact Steam profile picture size?

184×184 pixels. Steam accepts a larger upload and scales it down, but it also derives the 64×64 version shown in your friends list and the 32×32 version shown next to chat and comments from that same file, so starting at exactly 184×184 is what keeps small details readable at every size. Pick Avatar / Profile Picture from the Steam Profile category and the crop locks to a square. This is the size people usually mean by Steam pfp dimensions.

What size is Steam cover art, poster or grid art?

600×900 pixels, the vertical format Steam calls the Library Capsule — the portrait tile you see in the library grid. It's the same size whether you're a developer uploading a store asset or replacing the art on your own copy of a game, so it's listed once, as Library Capsule in the Steam Store category. The wider 920×430 Library Header is the landscape banner shown on a game's library page, not the grid tile.

What sizes does Steam custom artwork use?

The same slots as the official library assets, so every size you need is already here: boxart or grid art 600×900 (Library Capsule), hero 3840×1240 (Library Hero), and the wide header 920×430 (Library Header). If you've seen 1920×620 quoted for the hero, that isn't a competing spec — it's the half-size copy Steam generates itself from the 3840×1240 upload. The logo is the one exception, because it's a bounding box rather than a fixed size: see the next question.

What size is the Steam library logo?

Either 1280 pixels wide and/or 720 pixels tall, on a transparent background. That's a maximum, not an exact canvas — your logo keeps its own shape inside those bounds, so anything forcing it into a literal 1280×720 frame would stretch it or pad it wrongly. Pick Library Logo from the Steam Store category and it scales to fit those bounds, keeps its aspect ratio, is never enlarged, and exports as PNG so the transparency survives.

What are the exact Roblox thumbnail and icon sizes?

An Experience Thumbnail is 16:9 at 1920×1080, and an Experience Icon is square at 512×512 — both straight from Roblox's creator documentation. Keep thumbnails under 3MB, and avoid putting important text along the bottom edge, where Roblox overlays player-count metadata. Note that classic clothing templates aren't included here: those are UV layouts rather than a crop to a pixel size, so a resizing tool is the wrong shape for them.

What are the exact Google Play Store image sizes?

App Icon 512×512, Feature Graphic 1024×500, and a Phone Screenshot at 1080×1920 — the three assets a Play Store listing needs to go live. The Feature Graphic in particular has no room for transparency (it's rendered on a solid background), so a JPEG or flattened PNG works best there.

What are the exact YouTube thumbnail and Shorts sizes?

YouTube's current help center recommends 3840×2160 (4K) for a video thumbnail, with a minimum width of 640px — that's the sharpest option on large screens. Two lighter presets are included as well, 1920×1080 (1080p) and 1280×720 (720p): both are still fully accepted, both are 16:9, and both produce a much smaller file, which matters against YouTube's 2MB thumbnail upload limit. Shorts uses the vertical 1080×1920 cover size.

What are the exact X (Twitter) header and profile photo sizes?

Header Photo 1500×500 (a 3:1 banner) and Profile Photo 400×400. X displays the profile photo as a circle everywhere it appears, so keep the important part of the image centered rather than in a corner.

What are the exact Facebook cover and profile picture sizes?

Page Cover Photo 820×312 and Profile Picture 320×320. Facebook crops the cover photo differently on desktop versus mobile, so centering the key content avoids it getting cut off on either one.

What are the exact LinkedIn banner and profile sizes?

Profile Banner 1584×396 (a 4:1 banner) for a personal profile, plus a Profile Photo and Company Logo, both 400×400.

What are the exact Instagram post and Story sizes?

Square Post 1080×1080, Profile Picture 1080×1080 (displayed as a circle), and Story/Reel 1080×1920. Instagram doesn't accept a direct .gif upload for a feed post — only static images or video — so this covers the still-image side of an Instagram presence.

What are the exact TikTok cover and profile picture sizes?

Video Cover 1080×1920 — the same full vertical frame as the video itself, so a still cropped from the video lines up exactly — and a Profile Picture at 200×200, displayed as a circle. TikTok accepts a larger upload for the profile picture and scales it down, so starting a bit bigger keeps it sharp.

Does resizing upload my photo anywhere?

No. Cropping and resizing happen with the Canvas 2D API directly in your browser tab — no ffmpeg, no server, no file ever leaves your device.

Can I rotate or flip my image before resizing?

Yes. Rotate turns the photo 90° at a time, and there are separate flip-horizontal and flip-vertical buttons. Each is a lossless operation, so repeated clicks don't degrade quality the way re-saving a JPEG would. These two buttons are disabled for very large photos (above roughly 16 megapixels), since older phone browsers cap how large an image they can safely rotate — resizing and cropping aren't affected.

PNG or JPEG — which should I pick?

PNG is lossless and best for anything with transparency or crisp edges, like logos or Steam capsule art. JPEG produces a smaller file for ordinary photos, with a quality slider so you can trade file size for sharpness.

What happens if my photo is smaller than the target size?

The tool warns you and still exports at the exact target dimensions, but the result is upscaled and can look soft — for the sharpest result, start from a photo at least as large as your target.

Is there a maximum photo size I can upload?

Very high-resolution photos (roughly above 40 megapixels, the range some phones' "high-res" camera modes produce) are blocked with a warning rather than risking a frozen or crashed browser tab during editing.
